I think about how much my parents endured when I was a baby. I came to live with them when I was 6 months old.
My birth mother was a drug addict and drank while she was pregnant with me. When I was born, I went through serious withdrawals which caused me to scream all of the time.
My parents took me in and dealt with the hours worth of screaming. Nothing could console me… all they could do was listen.
Two years ago, my dad went through cancer surgery and chemo treatments. It was one of the hardest things for me to watch him deal with.
During the chemo, he was often in a bad mood, tired all of the time, and nothing tasted right for him. Even though he was impatient with us at times, it didn’t even bother me. I loved him and wanted to be there for him.
This video was such an inspiration to me. It reminded me that there will come a day when I’ll have to endure even more for my parents, but that it is worth it.
