The “Hug Lady,” known for sending off and welcoming soldiers with a hug, is in the hospital.
“Hug Lady” Elizabeth Laird made it her mission to hug every Fort Hood soldier headed off to war as well as every soldier coming back home.
“They tell me how much my hug meant to them and how they’ll never forget it. A lot of [them were] leaving home for the first time and some of their families couldn’t be there to see them off,” said Laird.
Now, military personnel are returning the favor as Laird battles a serious illness.
