When A Toddler Bugs A Stranger On A Plane, No One Was Prepared For What He Did Next

We’ve all been there…

Stuck on a long flight with a crying baby in your section. Or with a loud toddler in the seat behind you. A toddler who thinks kicking the back of your seat is just the funnest game ever.

Every time I board a plane, I dread that I’ll have to sit next to a crying baby, loud toddler, or even worse… a chatty 8-year-old. Truth be told, I’ve given many a nasty look to parents on planes. I know I should be more patient and understanding, but kids on long flights are just one of those things… I just can’t.

Shanell Mouland experiences anxiety when boarding airplanes too, but for a different reason. She doesn’t dread other people’s children. Shanell worries that her daughter, Kate, will be the one bothering other people.

Shanell and Kate, who has autism, flew from Florida to Philadelphia last year. After finding their seats, Shanell watched anxiously as the other passengers boarded. In a burst of optimism, she wished that a kind, Grandmotherly woman would be seated next to Kate, or that the seat would be empty.

Then a businessman sat down, briefcase in hand. “I had a vision of Kate pouring her water all over [his] multi-million dollar contracts, or house deeds, or whatever it was [he] held,” Shanell later shared in a blog post.

What actually happened between Kate and the businessman on that flight was so shocking, it got national media coverage, as you’ll see in the video below. I know I’ll treat children on planes (and their parents) a whole lot differently after seeing this.

Watch it and please spread the love by SHARING this story of kindness with your family and friends.
