Devastating Tragedy Inspires Wave Of Pay-It-Forwards, Man Leaves $3000 Tip

ReesSpecht Life pay it forward $3000 tip

Last week a man in NYC left his waitress a $3000 tip.

His bill only came to $43.50. That’s a tip of 7000%! What did the waitress do to earn such a shocking amount? Nothing out of the ordinary.

This act of extreme kindness was inspired by a middle school teacher. More about that later. But first, back to the tip itself…

On the back of the receipt, the man wrote:

“Thank you for your kindness and humility. My teacher in middle school had such a difficult experience a few years ago, which sparked me to do this. My only requirements are:

  1. Go to ReesSpecht.com and learn!
  2. Don’t let ‘pay it forward’ end with you.
  3. Since it is about the idea and not about you or me, if you decide to share this, please don’t use either of our names.

Thank you for being around for all of my shows off and on Broadway. I hope that one day someone gives as much love and happiness into the world as you do.”

When asked about the life-changing gift, the big tipper told ABC News, “She talked about how she was served an eviction notice last month. I just had also been constantly thinking about for quite some time my teacher’s project and this foundation, and I thought it was an appropriate time. She really needed it and has been so happy since then, so I feel I did the right thing. She said she was going to devote herself to the foundation and continue to pay it forward.”

The foundation he mentioned is ReesSpecht Life, a Pay-It-Forward project started by an eighth grade science teacher and his wife after their 22-month-old son died in a tragic accident.
