47 Ways To Avoid A Bad Day

Once in a while we all wake up with that feeling that nothing will go right that day, we are cranky, we miss the commuter to work, and we are late to work, and so on. While nothing can kill our mood or make us downcast faster than a bad day that gets handled poorly.

There are people that either gets a good night rest or else they are in a bad mood, some either get an early morning coffee or they remain gloomy and cranky the rest of the day. This post is not about the different mood swings people face but how to handle those situations that leave us with skewed perspectives or a short fuse. These are times when your frustration gets the better of you and you become tempted to take it out on the world and people around you.

Look people in the eye and smile. We tend to keep our eyes to ourselves when we’re in a bad mood.  This not only comes across as rude, but let’s us remain in our frowning facade.  Often times it’s our actions that need to come first and our feelings will follow.  Force yourself to give the other person a big fat smile and you’ll not only make them feel good, but you’ll most likely melt some of your ‘frozen features’ as well.

1. Wake Up On Time

While you need to wake up on time every day, make sure that you have ample time to eat breakfast and to plan your day. The worst thing you can do is to start off your day is being in hurry and running late to an appointment. When you do your body will be under stress, and if you repeat this every day over a period of time you risk ruining your health because of too much stress every morning.

2. Rid Yourself Of Every Distractions

To avoid a bad day when working on your most important tasks of the day, it is very important that you remove all distractions whatsoever. For starters, you can turn off email notifications, instant messaging applications and even mute your mobile phone or a complete switch off so as to avoid routine habits like checking social updates or answering calls that might get you worked up.

3. Take Short Breaks Whenever You Can

Sometimes every moment of our day feels like a struggle and in other to stay positive it is helps to take breathers or short breaks at intervals between missions.  Use these times to rest your mind, breathe deeply and clear your head.

4. Have Something To Look Forward To At The End Of The Day

Sometimes we do need a prize or focus to keep our drive alive. When you feeling the day might be heading in the wrong direction, keep a focus. Just like the kid that uses the thought of chocolates to get through his homework, look forward to something you like to help you get through the day.

5. Take A Nap

When all you want to do is avoid the world for a while, try taking a nap as it’ll fulfil your antisocial tendencies and let you recharge for a little there by refreshing your mood. Just make sure you do it in a way that won’t ruin your sleep that night.

6. Focus On Tomorrow

Sometimes the simple thought that we are heading into a new day and the knowledge that I’ll get another chance at it in less than 24 hours is enough to brighten us up. Make a game plan not to repeat whatever mistakes marred the day, and then just put all your focus in making tomorrow better.

7. Phone A Good Friend

Sometimes to avoid a bad day it is good to call a friend who won’t allow you to gripe about your problems for more than a few minutes before turning the conversation to something far more interesting than what’s making you sad at that time. Picking the phone and talking to somebody you trust that cares enough to guide you toward positive thinking has tremendous value in lightening up your mood.

8. Help Out A Stranger

Sometimes doing something for others has the benefit of making the world a better place while at the same time taking your focus off your own problems as you work to solve another’s. When having what’s shaping up to be a bad day you may find it very helpful to go out of your way to help somebody you don’t know.

9. Don’t Procrastinate

My most frustrating days were those when I decided to finish something important later or “tomorrow,” and then I didn’t even do that, while my most fulfilling days, on the other hand, happened to be those when I managed to finish all of my important tasks during the day, or even better, when I finished them immediately in the morning. You will end up making it even harder to finish since you will be rushed for time, you will constantly think about what you need to do, feeling guilty because you didn’t do it all.

10. Drop Something From Your Schedule

If you’re overwhelmed by a day gone bad a very quick solution is to drop some of the less important things from your schedule and take some time for yourself. This is a quite simple and very easy method, though part of your brain will try to convince you that your work won’t survive without you.

You need to be focused on your important tasks and work hard to finish them. Make a list of things you need to do in the. You can think about them while brushing your teeth and preparing your breakfast, but it is very important that you write them down somewhere. To enjoy your day you need to be in control of what you are doing and when you are doing it. This is why you need to make sure that you remove all possible distractions and find a good and peaceful place where you can work so as to be focused and fulfil your daily targets.

13. Take Some Time Just For Yourself

When we lose ourselves in work and don’t schedule time alone and away from others, whether it’s to listen to music, go for a walk, or grab a cup of tea in a quiet corner, taking the time you may have freed up by clearing your schedule and investing it back into yourself will brighten your mood.

14. Get Some Exercise

Exercise has been known to increases endorphins and can naturally switch a mood from bad to good in a matter of a few minutes. You can get an endorphin boost from exercise by exerting a moderate or high level of exercise, the body releases endorphins which can be associated with feelings of happiness. Though the feeling isn’t long lasting, it is enough to make you forget about your troubles.

15. Make Yourself Laugh

Laughter can also help alleviate your bad mood; smiling helps us get rid of stress and lower our heart rate. The only thing you have to remember is that it has to be a genuine smile; this will activate the joy centres in our brain. It is believed that laughter has survived evolution because it brings us together and makes feel better.

Play is an important part of enjoying adult life and helps to relieve our minds of tensions, you might feel a little ridiculous, but we guarantee that swinging on the swings will make you feel better any day of the year and improve your mood.

Music can trigger a release of dopamine into your brain making you happy. It can cause a pleasurable feeling that can turn a frown into a smile in the span of a three-minute pop song. As you’re following a tune, you are anticipating what’s going to happen next and the reward for doing so is a little shot of pleasure.

You could go shopping for a dress or whatever you fancy, this gives you the opportunity to appreciate beauty and craft and take your mind off issues.

47. Count To Ten

This is a method to keep your mood in check, to avoid having a bad day. Count to ten backwards when you feel like yelling and you will find out it helps calm you down.
